Northampton Emergency Aid Team is trained by the Emergency Services to assist them at major events or incidents where extra trained resources are required.

First Aid: The team attend First Aid Courses with St. John Ambulance or All Wales Ambulance Service for First Aid courses. This is then supplemented by training from Two Shires Ambulance NHS Trust and the team's own training programme.

Police: The team train to assist the police in things such as searches for missing persons and at major incidents. This consists of major incident procedures, basic law, and communication and search procedures. NEAT assisted the Police at the 1998 Easter Floods in Northampton.

Ambulance: East Midlands Ambulance Service (formerly Two Shires Ambulance NHS Trust) provide training including familiarisation of equipment on their vehicles, stretcher handling and loading, casualty handling and procedures at major incidents. This training is ongoing and with additional training courses from All Wales Ambulance Service in more advanced Ambulance Aid Techniques the team keeps up to date with current procedures.

NEAT: Internal Team training is ongoing from regular training meetings, including Health & Safety to exercises. Familiarisation with the Team's equipment and its correct usage are paramount. Constant practical and theory training to improve First Aid techniques.
